The Brewer family took a vacation the first part of October in 1947, and Jesse Brewer didn’t update his journal for several days.
My mother, Anne Verre, has some photos, paintings, and a cross stitch piece that are connected to the Brewer family and Chiltonville that we’ll share in this space instead of journal entries.
This painting is of the Chiltonville Church from the viewpoint of Chiltonville Cemetery. It’s a watercolor by Victoria Brewer Engstrom (Pick).

I finished transcribing Jesse’s “digging” notebook earlier this year that was presented to me by Annie Grieco, our curator at Plimoth-Patuxet Museums, and it was a joy to read his personal notes which I so admired. I have said a few prayers for his soul in this cemetery after I finish volunteering for the day. His memory lives on in your daily reports and we are grateful for your messages.
