98th day- 268 days follow

(Tuesday, Mar. 23)

Cloudy + Colcer

Fred Moon was up on the hill washing off the kitchen ceiling.

I raked rubbish all day.

This A.M. I thought the Greenough place was on fire so I ran over.  It was H.H. men burning grass between the house and the Avenue.

Jubbie worked this afternoon.

Eleanor and Victoria and the two boys and the two girls were here for dinner.

Last night Ski’s horse got cast and kicked out the side of the barn.

Helen Finney is here with her baby for awhile.

I see the masons have come up through 1- [?]

After supper Walder, George, Russ Snow and Mr. Tubbs went out to the meeting in Memorial Hall and there was a speaker from the Tax Payers’ Assoc. And 180 people attended the meeting and we formed a local group of the association.

We got out at 9:15 so we took a ride out to the Homestead and had a glass of ale.

  1. I love it when these writings make me look things up. Unfamiliar ( to me) terms.

”When horses are stabled in a stable too small for the size of the horse, they often lie facing, and so close to the wall they cannot get up. At other times a horse will inadvertently roll too close to a wall or corner of the stable and get himself stuck. The horse in this situation is said to be ‘cast’.”
