143rd day- 233 days follow
Cloudy Cool
Rained hard all night, let up at sunrise.
I saw a rare bird up on the hill this A.M.
Saw Mr. H, Mrs. H, + Geo. Crowell up on the hill.
Steve Treglawn was over looking at the garden this morning.
Ski went riding up around the Town forest.
After dinner Thel and I took a ride up to the Bridgewater dig and it was so cold there were only a few there. We saw Rolland Engstrum and he took us over to Mr. Taylor’s to see the Discordal and the prize spear head Billy Taylor has, in his good collection.
Thel talked to Mrs. Taylor, and she is a horse woman, and she sold Thel a set of driving reins for Target.
We left there after 5 P.M. and had supper at the stand near the Toll House.*
From there we went over to Abington and spent the evening with Frieda and Oscar.
We got home about 11:45.
We saw Dick Cox working at a garage in East Bridgewater.
Saw a Carolina Wren today.
*ed. Note. The Toll House was a restaurant in Whitman owned by Ruth Wakefield and her husband. It was here that she developed the recipe for the Tollhouse cookie.
