161st day- 265 days follow

Thunder Showers and Cold

Trimmed around the lawn and some of the hedges.

Fred Moon was up on the hill.

When I came home Thel sent for me to come up to Eleanor’s for supper as the Pope house caught on fire during the thunder storm.

Mrs. Melville put some papers in the fireplace to burn and in a short time the house was on fire.

George,Eleanor, and I went over to look at it and it was the darndest thing I ever saw.  Some time or other the roof had been repaired and the chimney had been knocked off so that the roof came down right over the top of the flue, and all the protection was a piece of copper over the top of the flue.

Bill came up on the hill for a few minutes this A.M.

Geo. Crowell called me up tonight.

I called up Charlie Sherman and had a long talk with him on the phone.

Bud and Ski were in tonight.
