272nd day- 94 days follow

(Vacation)

Fair + Warmer

We left Davis Island and drove over to West Southport and stopped in a store to inquire for Jesse Brewer* and the store was run by his sister and his granddaughter was there.

She drove her car around the bay to where her father, Winston Brewer, was working.  He is a painter.

Jesse Brewer himself died six years ago, for which I am sorry as he was one man in America I wanted to see very much.  His son was very pleased to see me and asked for me to give him my address so that he might send me a card.

When we left him, his daughter took us across the island and we met Leslie Mellow and his wife Frieda.

His boss is a Mr. Wm. Faye and was a friend of Mr. Henry Hornblower and knows the boss well.

Then we went over to Blue Hill + saw the old Nevins shell heap.  I picked up one felsite Hammer stone.

We ate supper in Ellsworth.

A great day but one bitter disappointment.

*Ed. note:I can only assume that this is a relative?
