283rd day, 83 days follow

Fair + Warm

2 A.M.   The boss woke me up out of bed.  I had to go up on the hill and let him in the house.  The back door was stuck.

5:50 A.M.  Thel and I went up to the hotel and got Bill Sherman’s wife, came back and picked up Adrian, went up to Charlie Sherman’s, rode with him up to the Mass. Arch. Soc. annual meeting at Worcester.

Ben Smith was elected President, Chas. Sherman to Vice.

Went out to lunch after the business meetings.

The afternoon talks were real good.  Fowler, Harry H. and Dr. Howe had papers.

After the afternoon session we all went to the Hotel Sheridan and had the Crystal Room for a banquet and the evening lecture.

It was about this summer’s work excavating the Newport towers.  They were swell, slides and a fine speaker, but nothing has been proven that it is not a colonial windmill.

I missed not having Bill Whiting along, and he missed a fine day.

We got home at 1:10 A.M.

Braves lost today.
