Cloudy + Mild

The partridges are still around up on the hill.  Two of them were by the brush pile.

Bramhall was up to read the meter.

I saw six marsh quail in the willow tree in the valley.

Tom Doten and Sirrico and Beals were burning grass over on Meyer’s this afternoon so I went over + helped them so that they would do a little burning for me on the edge of the drive.

While I was there Tom Doten’s son came over with a man I haven’t seen since I was 23 years old.  He was gardener for Old Sherman Whiipple.

He was one of the spectators to the Bout I had with Art. Steadman in the Casino* in the summer of 1911.

I washed the dishes tonight.

I paid for a tank of gas.

*ed. Note. Jesse Brewer was an amateur boxer as a young man. The casino was part of the Jordan, then Whipple estate, a beautiful building on Jordan Road where social events of the village were held.
