199th day- 166 days follow

Fair + Hot

This has been one hot day, like a steam bath after last night’s rain storm.

After supper Arthur Pyle and Mr. Patenaud came to see me about making up two cases to put Indian artifacts in to exhibit at the First House down by the rock.

I saw in the paper tonight that Manuel Pereira was drowned in the Jones River in Kingston last night.  He was fishing for eel and fell out of the boat. I was very sorry to hear about it for Manuel was one fine fellow as honest as men are made.

Took a walk over to Walder’s and Pick’s.  Eric and David are going up to the hospital the day after Labor Day to have their tonsils and adenoids out.

Thel went on a mystery ride down to Falmouth with the Community Club this afternoon.
