ToDay is the Birthday of Fuller Hammond 8.00*
Several kinds of weather today.
Cleaned up rubbish all day.
Thelma and Eleanor went out tonight.
Percy stopped in to see me for a few minutes.
Saw one of last year’s friends in the flower garden, a nearby black toad.
Saw a pigeon hawk.
Percy brought in Geo. Finney’s diploma from Aero Mechanics School in the army. He said Geo has his Corp. stripes.
The radishes in my cold frame are up.
“The true measure of life is not length, but honesty.” John Lyly.
* Jesse also uses this birthday line to keep track of money owed and spent. This might not actually be Fuller Hammond’s birthday.
Just curious…why does he always seem to be cleaning up rubbish?

I had the same thought! I think, though, that by “rubbish” he means leaves, sticks, brush – all the stuff left over from winter damage. And I think there was just a lot more ground to cover with all the land he was responsible for.

Just realized it is Geo. Finney, not Tinney.
