June 26 Saturday, 1943

Today is the birthday of

Fair and hot. 94. Wind So.

After dinner Eleanor and I rode our bikes over to Fred Moon’s and borrowed his oars and we fished in the river all afternoon and got nothing.  We had a few bites from roaches.

Awful hot in the house tonight.

Milt Vaughn was down helping Ski on her boat this afternoon.

I hear that Earl is feeling better.

Slept downstairs tonight.

  1. Fred Moon was a painter who lived on River Street and worked for Harry Hornblower. His brother, Herbert, was a carpenter and did many jobs on the estate. Fred sold pieces of land to Harry, some of which became part of Plimoth Plantation. He also was a great collector of arrowheads and Indian artifacts.
