269th day – 97 days follow

First Frost

First hard white frost this morning.

Went down to the eel trap, nothing in it again.

Eleanor got a letter from George today he is in France.

Worked all day wheeling coal from behind the barn to the house cellar.

John Finney was up this afternoon and he looked at the barn and said he thought it would cost 7 or 6 hundred dollars to move the barn and he told me how to work up the trees that have blown down.

After supper I picked 1½ bushels of grapes for Thel to make grape juice.

I saw Phil and Jennie Chandler and they asked me over to see how that had fixed up the house.
