346th day- 20 days follow

Fair + Partly Cloudy

Finished up digging the trench for the wire.

Geo. Crowell was up on the hill this morning and we wrapped up the turkeys.

Arthur Sirrico was up on the hill,  the first time I have seen him to talk to since his operation.

After dinner [he] gave me a ride up to Cleft Rock.  Saw Hymie Ryder and another fellow there.

I went over by the sand pit on a run for about an hour when I heard a big gang beating thru towards Stone’s so I changed my stand and they drove a deer in sight of me at about 100 yards, so when they stopped and all got together I went over to tell them.  Several of them were old X Home Guard men, Ex Sergeant Cotti was one, so we all swung out a line towards where I saw the deer, and when we got back [to] where I saw the deer and we jumped it again, and I ran down towards Richard Greenwood’s and someone fired several shots at it.  We didn’t go down to see what luck they had.

Cotti gave me a ride home.

Bill called up tonight.’
