September 19 Sunday, 1943

ToDay is the Birthday of Bud got home today

Fair and cool, wind West.

When I got up on the hill this morning, All the Hornblower family had gone up to Boston to get Bud, he is on his way back from the Pacific war zone.

Brought down the scythe and mowed down all the weeds in the garden and yard.

Thel and Ski went to Church.

Ski, Mild. Richard, and his wife went out to Duxbury to ride horseback.

This afternoon Thel and I rode up to Toot’s camp on Island Pond. I fished all the way around the pond and caught one small pickerel.

Tracked a large doe deer and fawn in front of the Hull cottage where they had come down to the edge of the pond and had a drink.

Did chores up on the hill.

  1. When I was a kid everyone called our pond Little Island Pond to distinguish it from the Brewers much larger Island pond. I guess not everyone got the message. LOL
