176th day – 190 days follow

Fuller Hammond

I went down to the yacht club with Mrs. H, we picked up Jack Sampson and came back to House Lane boat house and turned the Old Squaw over so the could paint her bottom.

My check came from Fuller Hammond.

Worked in the garden all the afternoon hoeing, picked a peck of peas, that finished up the row.

Chet Downey stopped in for a half hour this afternoon.

Eleanor went over to Mrs Stefani’s, she expects George to come home tonight.

Went up on the hill tonight and saw a woodchuck as big as a bear in Bramhall’s field, so I went into my tool house and got my 22 rifle and came back and tried to get a shot at it by waiting for it to come out. Wood ticks crawled over me and gnats and mosquitoes bit me till I had to give up.

Saw a smaller woodchuck but the sun was shining in my eyes so I couldn’t sight the rifle so I didn’t shoot at it.

  1. “Jack Sampson and came back to House Lane boat house and turned the Old Squaw over so the could paint her bottom” The PC police would have a field day with that comment. You got to admit it’s funny. Do you think it was intentional?
